The Multan Sultans secured a significant addition to their bowling attack on Tuesday, welcoming Zimbabwean fast bowler Richard Ngarava to their squad for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 campaign. Ngarava replaces English pacer Olly Stone, who departs due to personal commitments.
Ngarava brings a wealth of experience to the Sultans’ bowling lineup, boasting 49 T20I appearances for Zimbabwe, where he has claimed a total of 59 wickets at an impressive average of 21.33 and an economical bowling rate of 7.16. His tally further extends to 94 wickets across all T20 formats, showcasing his consistent ability to take wickets in the shortest version of the game.
The left-arm fast-medium bowler hails from Harare, Zimbabwe, and made his international debut back in September 2019 against Singapore. Beyond his international experience, Ngarava has also participated in various overseas leagues, including the Dubai Capitals, Galle Titans, and Sylhet Strikers, proving his adaptability to different playing conditions.
Ngarava, who will sport the number 39 jersey for the Sultans, is a versatile cricketer who has represented Zimbabwe in all three formats. He made his Test debut against Pakistan in April 2021 and most recently featured in an ODI against the West Indies earlier this month.
The Multan Sultans are currently enjoying a dominant run in PSL 9, having secured the top spot in the playoffs after winning six out of their seven matches so far. Ngarava’s arrival further strengthens their bowling attack, particularly adding the valuable left-arm pace option. His experience and skillset are expected to be a valuable asset to the team as they aim to secure victory in the tournament.
