South Africa Women who lost the series opener against India Women by 27 runs (Match Report) found their very first win of the South Africa Women’s T20I Tri-Series as they beat West Indies Women by 44 runs. Masabata Klaas shines with 4 wickets for South Africa Women in the game including the wickets of West Indies Women captain Hayley Matthews and Shabika Gajnabi’s golden duck.
In the match played today, South Africa Women won the toss and elected to bat first.
Batting first, South Africa Women made 141/5 in 20 overs with Marizanne Kapp making 52 runs off 43 balls and remaining the most run scorer for the team. Sune Luus was the second-most run scorer for the team with 30 runs off 26 balls.
Shamilia Connell took two wickets for West Indies Women while Hayley Matthews and Shabika Gajnabi took a wicket each. West Indies Women conceded twelve extras to South Africa Women in the game while bowling.
West Indies Women couldn’t cross the 100-run mark against the host while following the target as they made 97 runs in their 20 overs. West Indies Women lost eight wickets to reach the total. Hayley Matthews was the top run contributor for West Indies Women in the game with 23 runs off 35 balls.
Masabata Klaas took four wickets for South Africa Women while Nonkululeko Mlaba, Ayabonga Khaka and Chloe Tryon took a wicket each.
