Lahore Qalandars’ head coach Aaqib Javed believes there is a clear difference between Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Amir. In preparation for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8, Javed appeared on a digital show where he shared his thoughts on the biggest rivalries in the PSL, including the reigning champions, Karachi Kings.
Javed stated that the Kings are not even close to the Qalandars when it comes to fast bowling. He emphasized that there is a significant gap between Shaheen and Amir, Haris Rauf and Mir Hamza, Zaman Khan and Aamir Yamin, and that while the Kings have good spin bowling options, the Qalandars have a strong fast bowling line-up.
The head coach also expressed excitement about the much-anticipated match-up between Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi. With Babar now serving as the captain of the Peshawar Zalmi, Javed believes that the competition between the Qalandars and Zalmi will be a highlight of this year’s PSL season.
Another exciting match-up that fans are looking forward to is Shaheen vs Matthew Wade. In the T20 World Cup 2021, Wade’s three maximums off Shaheen broke Pakistani hearts and secured Australia’s spot in the semi-final. However, now that Wade has been picked up by the Karachi Kings for the PSL, Pakistani fans will finally get to see the Shaheen vs Wade rivalry play out on the PSL stage.
Overall, Javed is confident in the Qalandars’ strong fast bowling line-up and believes that they are a formidable competitor in the upcoming PSL season. The coach’s insights and predictions have only added to the excitement for the start of the season, as fans eagerly await to see the anticipated match-ups play out on the field.
