The captain of Islamabad United, Shadab Khan, had a humorous reaction to Iftikhar Ahmed hitting six sixes off of Wahab Riaz during a recent exhibition match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi. The match took place at the Bugti Stadium in Quetta on Sunday.
The game got off to a strong start for Zalmi with Wahab sending two of their batsmen back to the pavilion in the second over. However, Quetta fought back and ultimately posted a respectable total.
To finish the game with a bang, Iftikhar hit six sixes off of Wahab in the final over, ending with an impressive 94 runs not out in just 50 balls. This performance was especially notable given that Wahab was recently appointed as the Sports Minister in the caretaker government of Punjab.
In response to this remarkable display, Shadab took to Twitter to jokingly comment on Iftikhar’s impressive bashing of the newly appointed Sports Minister. He wrote,
Mere chotay bhai @IftiAhmed221 ne sports minister @WahabVikki ka bhi lehaz nahi kiya 🤷. Minister sb ko easy na lein, he will bounce back too. Great to see the love and support shown by the people of Quetta. They deserve the best.
He added,
“Great to see the love and support shown by the people of Quetta. They deserve the best.”
Quetta went on to win the match against Peshawar Zalmi by three runs, thanks to the outstanding batting performance by Iftikhar and the impressive bowling efforts by the rest of the team. The Gladiators posted 184 runs on the board before restricting the Yellow Storm to 181 runs.
