The ongoing deadlock between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the interim Punjab government over the cost of hosting Pakistan Super League (PSL 8) season eight matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi may finally be resolved today, paving the way for the matches to proceed as scheduled.

Dr. Javed Akram, the Minister of Health from the interim government, has confirmed to Express News that the PSL matches will take place in Lahore and Rawalpindi, and will not be shifted to Karachi as previously rumored.

Earlier, the interim Punjab government had demanded PKR 500 million from the PCB to conduct the matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi, with PKR 50 million already paid by the board for expenses on food. The remaining PKR 450 million was demanded by the provincial government for lighting and security purposes, leading the board to consider moving the Punjab-leg of PSL 8 to Karachi.

However, sources now suggest that the interim Government of Punjab may have softened its stance on the matter, with sixty percent of the bill payment to be borne by the Punjab government and the remaining forty percent to be paid by the PCB. Representatives from both sides are expected to meet today to finalize the matter.

The matches in Lahore are set to commence on February 26, with Rawalpindi hosting the PSL matches from March 1. Fans and cricket enthusiasts alike will be relieved to hear that the deadlock may finally be coming to an end, and that the much-awaited PSL season eight matches will proceed as planned.
