Nadeem Omar defends captain Sarfaraz Ahmed despite team’s poor performance

Nadeem Omar, the owner of Quetta Gladiators, has reiterated his support for the team’s captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, calling him a trademark of the franchise. Despite Quetta’s poor performance in the past few years, which saw them miss out on the playoffs since winning their maiden Pakistan Super League (PSL) title in 2019, Nadeem backed Sarfaraz against criticism and expressed confidence in the player’s abilities.

Quetta’s win in the 2019 PSL final against Peshawar Zalmi was their only title under Sarfaraz’s leadership, leading to criticism of the skipper for failing to maintain the team’s dominant performance in subsequent years. However, Nadeem highlighted Sarfaraz’s achievements, including winning the U19 World Cup and Champions Trophy, and praised his recent performance during the Test series against New Zealand.

Speaking to GeoSuper.tv, Nadeem stated that Quetta would not throw out Sarfaraz just because of criticism from people. He also emphasized the importance of the player to the team’s success, saying that he is their hero and will remain so. Nadeem plans to sit down with Sarfaraz to discuss the team’s future before the next PSL season, confident that the player shares the team’s commitment to success.

Despite finishing last in this year’s PSL with six points, Nadeem refused to make excuses for Quetta’s poor performance. He admitted that there were a few drawbacks, including the absence of their platinum pick Hasaranga, who did not join the team, and the impact of missing out on a player of his or Rashid Khan’s caliber.

Nadeem concluded by acknowledging that the team had made mistakes, but vowed to learn from them and come back stronger in the next PSL season. Quetta Gladiators’ owner’s unwavering support for Sarfaraz Ahmed, in spite of the team’s poor performance, shows the trust and confidence the franchise has in its captain.

Despite Quetta Gladiators’ recent struggles, Nadeem Omar remains optimistic about the team’s future, with a renewed commitment to working with captain Sarfaraz Ahmed to build a strong team and bring success to the franchise.
