Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal recently shared his perspective on the potential comeback of Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir to the national team. In his opinion, players who have dedicated themselves to domestic cricket for a significant period of time should receive fair consideration for selection.
Akmal emphasized that playing domestic cricket should not limit a player’s potential, and that if they excel in all formats of the game, including ODI, T20I, and four-day cricket, and have the ability to make a comeback in Test cricket, they should be given the chance to perform. He also stated that age should not be a barrier if the player proves their worth.
“We are making efforts to bring back a player who are trying to settle in England,” said Akmal.

Age should not be a barrier if the player proves their worth,”
In regards to Amir’s potential return to the team, Akmal stressed that a better policy for all players is necessary, not just for Amir. He stated that it is important to recognize players who are striving to regain their position in the national team by participating in club cricket and showcasing their hard work. According to Akmal, a better policy should not discriminate based on past history or reputation.
“It’s important to consider the ones who are struggling to make their return to the national team by playing club cricket and showcasing their hard work,”
“Our policy and vision should not be limited to specific players such as Amir or Junaid Khan. We need to have a better policy in place that doesn’t discriminate based on past history or reputation,” he concluded.
Akmal’s views reflect the need for a fair and unbiased selection process in Pakistan cricket, where domestic players are given a fair chance to showcase their talents and are not overlooked due to past controversies or reputation. His emphasis on recognizing players who are working hard to regain their position in the team and his call for a better policy for all players highlights the need for transparency and accountability in the selection process.
Kamran Akmal’s advocacy for fair consideration of domestic cricketers, including Mohammad Amir, emphasizes the need for a more equitable selection process in Pakistan cricket. This would not only ensure that the best players are selected for the national team, but would also provide a platform for deserving players to showcase their talents and contribute to the growth and success of Pakistani cricket.
