Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have received a significant boost ahead of the rest of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 with the return of pacer Mohsin Khan to the franchise. The left-arm pacer was sidelined due to a shoulder injury, and it was initially speculated that he would miss most of the ongoing season after undergoing surgery to remove blood clots in his shoulder.
However, medical staff has now deemed the pacer fit to play, and he is set to join the LSG camp for the remainder of their campaign, according to ANI. Mohsin’s return strengthens LSG’s pace bowling attack, which already includes Mark Wood, Jaydev Unadkat, Avesh Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq, Yash Thakur, and Mayank Yadav.
Mohsin Khan was signed by LSG for INR 20 Lakh in 2022 after warming the bench for Mumbai Indians in 2018. During the 2022 season, Mohsin was entrusted with the responsibility of bowling during the powerplay and death overs. He had a successful first season, taking 14 wickets in nine outings for the team, with his best figures being 4/16, and ended the season with an economy rate of 5.97.
As he returns to action for the rest of the IPL 2023 season, Mohsin will aim to perform well and replicate his performance from the previous edition. LSG is likely to rely on him in the closing stages of matches and hope that he delivers the goods for the side.
LSG’s next game is against the Rajasthan Royals on April 19, and it remains to be seen if Mohsin will be included in the playing XI for the match. The franchise had picked Jaydev Unadkat as a replacement at the mini-auction in December, but Mohsin’s return will provide additional options and depth to the team’s bowling attack.
The return of Mohsin Khan is a significant boost for LSG, and his presence will add further strength to their already impressive pace bowling attack. With the team fighting for a playoff spot, Mohsin’s contribution will be crucial in the remainder of the IPL 2023 season.
