Virender Sehwag, the former Indian opening batsman, has shared his picks for the top four contenders in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be hosted in India later this year in October.
In a recent interview, Sehwag utilized his deep cricketing insights to identify four teams that he believes will stand out in the tournament, considering their unique styles of play.
Sehwag’s astute analysis has brought the spotlight onto India, Pakistan, Australia, and England as the quartet that he predicts will secure positions in the prestigious ICC ODI World Cup 2023 semi-finals.
“If I were to select four teams – Australia, England, India, and Pakistan. These are the teams that will make it to the semi-finals. Australia and England are almost certain due to their unconventional approach to cricket – they play shots that break from tradition. These two teams are well-versed in this aspect. Additionally, England and Australia are the two foreign teams who have the potential to excel in sub-continental conditions,” Sehwag expressed.
The ICC World Cup 2023 is set to unfold in India during the months of October and November, with a total of 10 participating teams vying for victory. The tournament is scheduled to commence on October 5, culminating in the final match on November 19.
