The Perth Scorchers have signed Amy Jones as their third overseas player for the Weber WBBL|09 season.
Jones is an experienced international cricketer, having played for England in all formats. She is a right-handed batter and wicketkeeper and is known for her elegant strokeplay and her ability to keep wickets with a calm and composed demeanor.
Jones has previously played for the Perth Scorchers in WBBL|04, WBBL|05, and WBBL|06. In 51 WBBL appearances (including 19 with Sydney Thunder), she has tallied 938 runs at 23.45, including six half-centuries.
Jones’ signing is a major boost for the Perth Scorchers, who are looking to win their first WBBL title since 2017. She joins captain Sophie Devine and compatriot Danni Wyatt as the Scorchers’ three overseas players for the upcoming season.
Becky Grundy, the Perth Scorchers’ WBBL Head Coach, said that Jones’ signing was a “major coup” for the team.
“When a player of Amy’s quality became available via direct nomination for WBBL|09, we jumped at the opportunity,” Grundy said.
“Amy brings versatility and international experience to our playing group and will be a key member of our middle order. She is also a great leader around the group and formed excellent relationships in her previous stint with the Scorchers.
“We can’t wait to welcome Amy back to Perth this season.”
