MCA to auction two seats where MS Dhoni’s World Cup-winning six landed in 2011

MS Dhoni’s iconic World Cup-winning six in the 2011 final against Sri Lanka continues to be etched in the memory of cricket enthusiasts worldwide. As cricket fever intensifies with the impending arrival of the 2023 World Cup, the historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is poised to become a prominent venue for tournament matches.

In an intriguing prelude to the tournament, the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has unveiled an unprecedented decision. They are set to auction off the very seats where Dhoni’s legendary six found its landing spot, leaving an indelible mark on cricket history.

On the official MCA website, within the section titled ‘Request for Proposal for Buyout of Hospitality Package for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Matches at Wankhede Stadium,’ the association has officially announced the auctioning of these iconic seats.

The seats, positioned on level 2 of the illustrious Sachin Tendulkar stand, will be available for auction at a remarkable price of INR 3 crore, as reported by the Times of India. Moreover, cricket aficionados will have the opportunity to secure around 140 seats spread across seven exclusive boxes, all for INR 2.66 crore. These exclusive seats will grant spectators a chance to witness five thrilling World Cup matches that are slated to unfold at the renowned Wankhede Stadium during the ODI World Cup 2023.

As the excitement surrounding the ODI World Cup 2023 continues to build, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai stands as a pivotal venue, hosting a total of five captivating matches throughout the tournament. The action is set to kick off with the England-South Africa clash on Saturday, October 21, marking the first of many riveting encounters.

Furthermore, cricket enthusiasts can eagerly anticipate Team India’s inaugural match in Mumbai, scheduled for Thursday, November 2. In this highly anticipated showdown, the Indian cricket team, led by the astute Dasun Shanaka, will take on Sri Lanka.

It’s worth noting that the tournament’s grand inauguration will commence in Ahmedabad on October 5, featuring an exciting face-off between England and New Zealand in the season opener, promising a thrilling start to this cricketing extravaganza.
