Peshawar’s hopes of hosting Pakistan Super League (PSL 2024) matches have been dashed as Hayatabad Stadium remains unready for the prestigious cricket tournament. Despite construction commencing during the PTI regime, the stadium is still incomplete, with floodlights yet to be installed. This setback marks another season that Peshawar will miss hosting PSL matches, leaving fans disappointed.

Nine months ago, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi had expressed optimism about Arbab Niaz Stadium potentially hosting PSL 9, sharing footage of its construction progress. However, both Hayatabad Stadium and Arbab Niaz Stadium remain unfinished, raising questions about the timely completion of these cricketing venues. Despite significant financial investments, the stadiums’ incomplete status underscores the challenges in executing large-scale construction projects.

As PSL 2024 draws closer, the lack of preparedness in Peshawar has prompted organizers to consider alternative venues for the matches. The tournament may now take place across four venues: Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Multan. With billions spent on stadium construction, the delay highlights the need for efficient project management and timely execution.

Meanwhile, preparations for PSL 9 are well underway, with the tournament scheduled to commence on February 17. In the opening match, Lahore Qalandars will face Islamabad United, setting the stage for an exciting cricketing extravaganza. Despite the challenges faced by Peshawar, the other host cities are gearing up for the tournament, ensuring that the cricketing action reaches fans across the country.

All six teams participating in PSL 9 have finalized their squads through the draft, featuring a mix of seasoned international players and emerging local talents. The anticipation for the upcoming season remains high, and fans are eagerly awaiting the spectacle that PSL 9 promises to be. While Peshawar may miss out on hosting matches, the spirit of the tournament is expected to captivate cricket enthusiasts nationwide, with Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Multan poised to deliver an unforgettable cricketing experience.
