Romania and Czech Republic share Day 2 honors as T20I series ends 2-2 in Ilfov County

The Czech Republic tour of Romania 2025 concluded in thrilling fashion at the Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground, Ilfov County. Hosts Romania secured a strong win in the third T20I to move 2-1 up in the series, but the Czech Republic staged a fine comeback in the evening game to level the four-match contest 2-2.

3rd T20I – Rameez Khan’s five-for powers Romania to victory

Result: Romania won by 20 runs | ROU 195/4 (20 ov) vs CZE 170/7 (20 ov)

Romania’s batting clicked into gear, with Ramesh Satheesan (59 off 38) and Avishka Iroshan (66 off 50) anchoring the innings. Skipper Vasu Saini (27 off 20) and Md Ariyan (15 off 6)* added late fireworks, propelling the hosts to 195/4.

In reply, the Czech Republic looked competitive thanks to Sharan Ramakrishnan’s unbeaten 67 off 44 and support from Sabawoon Davizi (25 off 18) and Rhuturaj Magare (24 off 21). However, Romania’s bowling attack, led by Rameez Khan’s brilliant 5/22, proved decisive as the visitors were restricted to 170/7, handing Romania a 20-run victory.

Rameez Khan was named Player of the Match for his match-winning five-wicket haul.

4th T20I – Divyendra Singh guides Czech Republic to series-leveling win

Result: Czech Republic won by 4 wickets | ROU 157/8 (20 ov) vs CZE 159/6 (19 ov)

Needing a win to square the series, the Czech Republic held their nerve in a tense chase. Earlier, Romania managed 157/8, with Sivakumar Periyalwar top-scoring with 52 off 37 balls, while Vasu Saini (27 off 29) provided stability. Czech bowlers, led by Sazib Bhuiyan (2/25) and Rhuturaj Magare (1/25), applied the brakes effectively.

The Czech reply began shakily at 5/2, but Divyendra Singh (55 off 40) played a captain’s knock under pressure. Contributions from Sojib Miah (27 off 13) and Sazib Bhuiyan (23 off 21) ensured momentum stayed with the visitors. In the end, Naveed Ahmed (13 off 8)* guided them home with six balls to spare, finishing at 159/6.

Divyendra Singh earned the Player of the Match award for his match-winning half-century and sharp work behind the stumps.

Romania’s clinical performance in the third T20I put them on the brink of a series win, but the Czech Republic showed resilience to fight back and level the series in the decider.
