The BCCI confirmed that its medical team is monitoring Kishan’s recovery.
His absence creates a potential opportunity for 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, although the team management has not confirmed a replacement in the playing XI.
India secured a four-wicket victory in the opening match, successfully chasing 226 to take a 1–0 lead in the five-match series.
The second T20I is scheduled for October 24 in Christchurch.
India will look to extend their advantage while New Zealand attempt to level the series.
