Mumbai Indians have appointed former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard as their new head coach ahead of the Indian Premier League 2027 season.
The franchise officially confirmed the appointment on October 24, 2026.
Pollard replaces Mahela Jayawardene, who stepped down from the position earlier this month.
Pollard Begins New Chapter With Mumbai Indians
Pollard has maintained a long association with Mumbai Indians since joining the franchise in 2010.
As a player, he contributed to all five of Mumbai Indians’ IPL championship victories in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.
Following his retirement from IPL cricket, Pollard became the franchise’s batting coach.
His promotion to head coach places him in charge of preparing Mumbai Indians for the 2027 season.
Pollard’s experience as a player and coach across international franchise competitions is expected to play an important role in the team’s preparations.
Mumbai Indians will now begin their next IPL campaign under one of the franchise’s most recognizable former players.
