R Vinay Kumar announced that he will be moving out of Karnataka for the 2019-20 first-class season and taking his skills as a player and mentor to Puducherry.
Hours after belting 37 runs for Hubli Tigers in a losing cause in the KPL, Vinay called for the conference at the M Chinnaswamy stadium and explained his decision to move out of Karnataka. “They (Cricket Association of Pondicherry) approached me a couple of weeks ago, and I decided that it was a good time to leave. Karnataka have plenty of great talent and they will do great things. I am making way for the youngsters of the state. I hope I can do in Puducherry what I did here,” said Vinay, who is the most successful captain for Karnataka.
Vinay represented Karnataka in 130 first-class games and picked up 459 wickets along with 3025 runs. He also featured in 31 One-Day Internationals, bagging 38 scalps, and a wicket in the one Test against Australia in 2012.
