Pakistan batter Mohammad Rizwan won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for September 2022 after some great performances. Meanwhile, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur becomes India’s first winner of the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for September 2022 after a memorable showing in the ODI series in England.
Mohammad Rizwan On Winning The Award:
On winning the award, an elated Rizwan said: “I would like to thank Almighty Allah and express my heartfelt delight to all that enabled me to achieve this award. I want to give my high appreciation to all my teammates as they made things easy for me. These achievements boost your confidence. I am happy with my performance and I would like to take this momentum forward in Australia.
“I would like to dedicate this award to the people in Pakistan who are affected by the floods and climate change. Hopefully, this will bring smiles on their faces.”
Harmanpreet Kaur On Winning The Award:
After her win, Harmanpreet stated, “It was great to be nominated for the award and to win it is an amazing feeling. To come out as a winner when being nominated alongside Smriti and Nigar is very humbling. I have always taken immense pride in representing my country and achieving the historic ODI series win in England will remain a landmark moment for me in my career.
“The game of cricket is blessed to have some of the finest athletes on the sporting circuit and to be chosen the ICC Women’s Player of the Month amongst them is a special recognition for me as an individual and the captain of the Indian cricket team.”
Mohammad Rizwan’s September Performances:
Rizwan scored seven fifties out of the 10 games that he played last month. He scored 70+ against Hong Kong and India in the Asia Cup at the start of his month. Rizwan finished the tournament with another fifty and as the leading run-scorer but Pakistan fell short on the final hurdle.
Mohammad Rizwan registered four scores of 60+ in the first five T20Is of the seven-match series against England. Despite playing one less game, he still finished the series as the highest run-getter with 316 runs at an average of 63.20 while going at 138.60.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s September Performances:
Kaur as the captain of the Indian team, lead India to a 3-0 ODI whitewash over England. This was India’s first series win in England since 1999. Harmanpreet finished as the highest run-getter with 221 runs at an average of 221 and a strike rate of 103.27.
In the first ODI, her well-paced innings of 74* guided India to a win while chasing 228. She also scored a splendid 143* off just 111 balls in the second ODI. This was Kaur’s second-highest score in the 50-over format.
