Uganda Women and Kenya Women find their wins in Kenya Quadrangular Women’s T20 Series’ third day

The third day of the Kenya Quadrangular Women’s T20 Series had two matches: Tanzania Women vs Uganda Women and Qatar Women vs Kenya Women. Uganda Women and Kenya Women added two points each from the games as they win their games by 6 and 9 wickets respectively.

The first game today was between Tanzania Women and Uganda Women where Uganda Women won the toss and elected to field first.

Tanzania Women after being invited to bat first in the game started their innings with Fatuma Kibasu and Saum Mtae. While Fatuma made 20(25) and Saum made 2(4), Hudaa Omary was the top run scorer for the team in the game with 25(33). The team was able to add a total of 73 runs on the board losing all their wickets in 17.2 overs.

Irene Alumo, Sarah Akiteng, Janet Mbabazi, Concy Aweko and Stephani Nampiina from Uganda Women took a wicket each in their name in the game. Uganda Women conceded 5 extras in the game.

Uganda Women made 74/4 in 12.4 overs in the second inning of the game to win it. Janet Mbabazi was the top run scorer for the team with 17(19) followed by Immaculate Nakisuuyi with 16(10).

Nasra Saidi, Pierce Kamunya and Sheila Shamte took 2, 1 and 1 wickets respectively for the team Tanzania Women. Tanzania Women conceded 11 extras to Uganda Women while bowling.

Uganda Women won the game by 6 wickets.

Janet Mbabazi was the player of the match for her 17(19) in batting and 1/21 in bowling.

The second match today was being played between Qatar Women and Kenya Women where Qatar Women won the toss and elected to bat first.

Batting first in the game, Qatar Women were able to add only 39 runs on board before they got all out by Kenya Women in 17.2 overs. Aysha was the only batter from Qatar Women to score in double-digits in the game as she made 12 runs off 16 balls in the low-scoring match.

Melvin Khagoitsa and Queentor Abel from Kenya Women shine with 3 wickets each in the game while bowling. Flavia Odhiambo and Lavendah Idambo joined the party with 2 and 1 wickets respectively. Kenya Women conceded 3 extras to Qatar Women in the game.

Kenya Women started the second inning of the game with the captain Queentor Abel and Mary Mwangi. Mary got out at 11(12) while the captain played the full inning with 218(18). Venasa Ooko was the other batter from Kenya who made 7*(5) in the game.

While Kenya Women won the game in 5.5 overs with 42/1 on board, Qatar Women had utilized only two bowlers till then in the game. Rochelle Quyn and Sabeeja Panayan were the bowlers being utilized by Qatar Women. Sabeeja took a wicket in the game. Qatar Women conceded 3 extras to Kenya Women while bowling.

Kenya Women won the game by 9 wickets.

Lavanya Pillai from Qatar Women made her WT20I debut today in the game against Kenya Women. She was the only not-out batter from her team with 1*(10).

Queentor Abel was the player of the match for her 21*(18) in batting, ¾ in bowling and 2 catches.

Currently, Uganda Women leads the points table with 6 points, and Kenya Women follows Uganda Women with 2 points. Tanzania Women is at 3rd with 2 points while Qatar Women still looking to win games in the series.
