The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots earned their first win of the 2023 CPL with a thrilling four-wicket victory over the Saint Lucia Kings.
The Patriots won the toss and chose to field first, and they were clinical with the ball, restricting the Kings to 149-7 after 20 overs. Ashmead Nedd was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2-14.
The Patriots’ chase was dominated by Andre Fletcher, who scored 93 not out of 64 balls. Fletcher hit five sixes and six fours in his innings.
The Kings fought hard to defend their total, but they were eventually undone by Fletcher’s brilliance. The Patriots reached the target with one ball to spare.
Fletcher was named the player of the match for his innings. He said: “It was a tough wicket to bat on, but I was just trying to stay positive and hit the ball hard. I’m glad we got the win.”
The Patriots’ win doesn’t help them to move up in the CPL standings but a win is a win that will boost their confidence, while the Kings remain third of the table.
