Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s special innings lead Kings to victory in 18 overs

The Saint Lucia Kings defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors by 7 wickets in the 2023 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The Amazon Warriors won the toss and chose to bat first. They got off to a slow start, losing Matthew Nandu and Saim Ayub early on. However, Shai Hope (38 in 35 balls) and Azam Khan (40 in 25 balls) put on a partnership of 50 runs to revive the innings.

Keemo Paul (19) and Romario Shepherd (12) hit some late runs to help the Amazon Warriors finish on 167-5.

Alzarri Joseph took 2 wickets while Captain Sikandar Raza picked up one wicket.

The Kings chased down the target with ease. Colin Munro and Bhanuka Rajapaksa put on a partnership of 132 runs to set the Kings up for victory. Rajapaksa was dismissed for 86 and Munro was dismissed for 55, but Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza saw the Kings home to victory.

The Kings have now qualified for the playoffs with one game to spare.
