Ahmedabad Hotel Prices in Lacs as Fans Rush for ODI World Cup 2023 Final

Cricket enthusiasts gearing up for the ODI World Cup 2023 final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium are grappling with a slew of challenges. The anticipated summit clash between India and either South Africa or Australia has triggered a surge in demand for accommodations and tickets, leading to exorbitant prices and logistical hurdles.

Months before India secured its spot in the finals, fans across the country and from abroad began planning their trips to Ahmedabad. However, what started as anticipation transformed into a daunting challenge as hotel prices skyrocketed. Initially priced at Rs 24,000 per night, accommodations now range from Rs 10,000 for basic rooms to a staggering Rs 1 lakh for premium options in four and five-star hotels.

Reports from Money Control indicate that the situation mirrors the trend observed before the high-stakes India versus Pakistan clash in Ahmedabad, where both hotel and ticket prices reached unprecedented levels. With just days left until the final, the cost of a basic hotel room has surged to Rs 10,000 per night, putting a strain on the budgets of cricket enthusiasts.

Travel booking platforms like Booking.com, MakeMyTrip, and Agoda are witnessing a surge in searches for stays in Ahmedabad. This trend, which began before the India-Pakistan clash, persists leading up to the finals. According to Google flight data, round-trip flight ticket prices have soared by 200% to 300%, with tickets from Delhi to Ahmedabad on November 18 currently priced at over Rs 15,000.

Adding to the logistical challenges, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made e-ticket printouts mandatory for fans attending the historic ODI World Cup 2023 Final. Fans are required to collect their e-ticket printouts from dedicated counters a couple of days before the event, contributing to the heightened demand and creating additional pressure on fans scrambling to secure their attendance at the cricketing spectacle.
