Pakistan’s cricket team is set for a whirlwind tour schedule in the lead-up to the highly anticipated T20 World Cup 2024. Before taking center stage on the global stage in June, the Men in Green will face a series of crucial T20I battles, honing their skills and building momentum.

After the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, the first stop on this pre-World Cup tour takes them to Ireland for a three-match T20I series in Dublin. Scheduled for May 10th, 12th, and 14th, the matches will be played under the floodlights at Clontarf Cricket Club, with an 8:00 PM PST start time. This series will be a valuable opportunity for the team to test their mettle against a competitive Irish side and adjust to European playing conditions.

Prior to the Ireland series, Pakistan will host New Zealand for a five-match T20I series on home soil all set to take place between April 18th and 27th. This series will hold special significance as both teams gear up for the World Cup, providing a chance to not only test strategies but also gauge their strengths and weaknesses against each other.

Following the Ireland series, Pakistan will embark on a four-match T20I tour of England. Scheduled for May 22nd to 30th, this series will provide another crucial test for the Pakistani team, as they prepare for the all-important World Cup. Just after Pak vs Eng four-match T20I series conclusion, they will get set for T20 World Cup 2024 to be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies from June 1st.

Adding intrigue to this packed schedule is the recent announcement of a revamped 29-player training camp currently underway at Kakul. Notably, this camp sees the exciting return of seasoned veterans Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir, both of whom have come out of international retirement. Their experience and leadership qualities will be invaluable assets for the young Pakistani squad.

However, a key question mark remains regarding the T20I captaincy. While Shaheen Afridi currently holds the position, his recent performances as captain have raised questions. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that a final decision on the captaincy will be made after the conclusion of the training camp.
