IPL 2024: BCCI to reward LSG pacer

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to reward Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) tearaway pacer Mayank Yadav for his blistering delivery against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Clocking an impressive 156.7 kph, Yadav not only secured the fastest delivery of the 2024 IPL season but also surpassed his own record set last year (155.8 kmph).

This feat has reportedly earned him a special recognition from the BCCI. According to Indian media sources, the board will reward Yadav for his pace mastery. This comes after the BCCI established a historic “Fast Bowling Contract” in February 2024, aimed at nurturing young talents. The initial group of players included Akash Deep, Vyshak Vijaykumar, Umran Malik, Yash Dayal, and Vidwath Kaverappa.

News outlets suggest that Mayank Yadav and his LSG teammate, Mohsin Khan, are strong contenders to be added to the contract after the IPL season concludes. “The Fast Bowling Contract was created to encourage such young talents,” a BCCI official told Indian media. “Mohsin and Mayank are also part of the discussion. The selectors will decide if they can be included based on their performance.”

This potential inclusion signifies the BCCI’s commitment to identifying and grooming promising fast bowlers. Mohsin Khan himself has been a standout performer, contributing to LSG’s current position at 4th in the points table with three wins from five matches.

With Yadav’s record-breaking delivery and the prospect of both him and Khan potentially joining the Fast Bowling Contract, the future of Indian pace bowling appears to be in capable hands.
