Travis Head, currently representing Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024, is gearing up to leverage his IPL experience for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. As the tournament, scheduled to commence in June across the USA and West Indies, looms closer, Head aims to fine-tune his skills and make a significant impact on the international stage.
With 133 runs under his belt from four innings in IPL 2024, including a notable 62 against Mumbai Indians, Head acknowledges the importance of consistency and performance in the lead-up to the World Cup. “I’ve come a long way as a player,” Head remarked in an interview with Indian media. “Now, the pressure is to continue to play the way I am playing. I think in all formats, I need to make sure that I go back to what simplifies everything, which is my technique and my blueprint.”
Expressing his focus on mental freshness and continuous improvement, Head emphasized the significance of maintaining readiness for the upcoming global event. “With the World Cup coming around the corner and, hopefully, being involved in that squad and batting at the top of the order…it gives me good preparation here in the IPL to try and get some runs and have a little bit of form going into the World Cup,” he added.
Reflecting on his IPL journey, Head acknowledged his growth and maturity over the years. “It was nice to get some runs in the first game,” he stated. “It’s been a long time between IPLs for me, seven years, but I’ve learned a lot over that time and am a lot more mature now.”
Having previously represented Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL, Head brings a wealth of experience to the table. In T20Is, he boasts 656 runs from 25 innings with a highest score of 91 at an average of 29.81, showcasing his prowess in the shortest format of the game. As he continues to hone his skills in IPL 2024, Head remains determined to make a significant impact on the grand stage of the T20 World Cup 2024.
