The BCCI has announced Shivam Dube as Nitish Reddy’s replacement in the Indian squad that is going to tour Zimbabwe; he was ruled out of the series due to injury. Hosts Zimbabwe will welcome the men in blue for a five-match T20I series starting on July 6 with the first game at the Harare Sports Club. This series is India’s first assignment after the 2024 T20 World Cup, featuring a blend of fresh talent and experienced players.
The BCCI announced a 15-man squad for the series on Wednesday; Shubman Gill was announced captain for the very first time. It is a young team as at least half of the senior members were rested. Nitish Reddy found a place in this team. The left-arm seamer claimed the Emerging Player award at this year’s IPL, hence becoming the first among four to make their maiden calls to the national team.
This is because he has an injury that has not been disclosed. The progress will be monitored by the BCCI Medical Team, an official release stated. It further said that the 21-year-old is likely to make a strong comeback in not too distant future.
