India are gearing up for an exhilarating cricket tour of Sri Lanka, which includes three men’s T20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODIs). The much-anticipated T20I and ODI series is scheduled for late July and early August, promising fans a thrilling display of cricketing prowess.
The T20I series will kick off with back-to-back matches on July 26 and 27 at the picturesque Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Following this, the ODI series will commence on August 1 at the iconic R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, with each game spaced two days apart.
IND vs SL T20I and ODI series to begin under new coaches
This tour marks a new chapter for both teams as they step onto the field under the guidance of their new head coaches. Sri Lanka will be led by interim head coach Sanath Jayasuriya, while Gautam Gambhir will begin his tenure as India’s head coach. This follows the end of Rahul Dravid’s successful stint, highlighted by India’s T20 World Cup 2024 title win.
India last toured Sri Lanka for a bilateral white-ball series in July 2021, a series that saw Rahul Dravid serving as the stand-in coach and Shikhar Dhawan as captain. During that tour, India triumphed in the ODI series 2-1, while Sri Lanka secured a 2-1 victory in the T20I series.
This upcoming series will be India’s second T20I engagement after their World Cup victory, with their first being against Zimbabwe. On the other hand, Sri Lanka will be looking to bounce back after their early exit in the T20 World Cup 2024, with their players gaining valuable experience in the LPL 2024 since then.
Cricket enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting this series, anticipating high-stakes matches and a showcase of strategic and skillful play from both sides.
