In a thrilling encounter at Headingley, Leeds, the Southern Brave and Northern Superchargers ended their match in a dramatic tie, both teams scoring exactly 100 runs in their allotted 100 balls.
Electing to bat first, the Southern Brave had a rocky start. Maia Bouchier provided a brisk opening with 22 runs off 14 balls, including five boundaries, before being dismissed by Linsey Smith. The Brave then lost wickets in quick succession, with Danni Wyatt, Charli Knott, and captain Georgia Adams all falling cheaply, leaving them struggling at 27/3.
Freya Kemp and Chloe Tryon attempted to stabilize the innings, contributing 14 and 25 runs respectively. However, the Northern Superchargers’ bowlers maintained consistent pressure. Annabel Sutherland’s economical spell (20 balls, 13 dot balls, 1 wicket for 10 runs) and Linsey Smith’s double strikes kept the Brave from accelerating. Southern Brave concluded their innings at 100/8, with Lauren Bell providing a late flourish with 10 not out off 5 balls.
In response, the Northern Superchargers’ innings mirrored the Brave’s early struggles. Lauren Bell was outstanding, taking 4 wickets for just 11 runs in her 20 balls, earning her the Player of the Match title. She removed captain Hollie Armitage and Marie Kelly early, putting the Superchargers on the back foot. Phoebe Litchfield (24 off 28) and Alice Davidson-Richards (27 off 22) fought back valiantly but couldn’t maintain the momentum.
With the Superchargers at 97/7, needing just four runs from two balls, the match reached its climax. Kate Cross managed to level the scores but couldn’t secure the winning run, finishing not out with 10 runs from 11 balls. Georgia Adams and Chloe Tryon each took a wicket, adding to the Superchargers’ difficulties.
The match tied, leaving both teams to share the points in what was an exhilarating contest showcasing the competitive spirit and drama of The Hundred Women’s Competition.
