There is a rumour doing rounds that ace Indian cricketer KL Rahul is retiring, which has turned out to be false. The reports, which have been circulating, claimed that Rahul was retiring from professional cricket and cited a manipulated image from his Instagram story. Though this claim has no truth, KL Rahul made no such declaration.
It seems to be an edited version of an original authentic Instagram story posted by Rahul on 22 August, in which he hinted that an announcement was coming. Unfortunately, the post was later edited to spread a hoax of Rahul’s retirement from cricket.
But amidst all these speculations, KL Rahul happens to be an active player. He featured in India’s ODI series against Sri Lanka not very long ago and is set to play the Duleep Trophy, starting September 5. He was also phenomenal in the 2023 ODI World Cup with 452 runs in 11 matches and had a match-winning inning against Australia.
Recently, though, Rahul has been going through a rough phase. His poor run during IPL 2024 and subsequent omission from India’s T20 World Cup squad have definitely put a big question mark on his form. He was ruled out of a part of the home Test series against England due to a quadriceps injury, although he started very well. His absence thus opened the way for youngsters like Dhruv Jurel to establish themselves and further complicated Rahul’s position in the team, especially once Rishabh Pant came back into contention.
Keeping this fake news aside, Rahul now tends to focus on his career, improving his stats to earn his place back.
