Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago — West Indies secured a 30-run win over South Africa in the second T20I at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The victory was built on solid batting performances and exceptional bowling during the middle overs, which saw South Africa’s chase collapse from a strong position.

West Indies, after being put into bat, posted a competitive total of 179/6 in their 20 overs. Shai Hope set the tone with a blistering 41 off 22 balls, and later contributions from Rovman Powell (35 off 22) and Sherfane Rutherford (29 off 18) helped them reach the total. Lizaad Williams was the standout bowler for South Africa, taking 3/36.

In response, South Africa started strongly, reaching 63/1 within the first five overs, thanks to Reeza Hendricks’ explosive 44 off 18 balls. However, the West Indies bowlers, led by Romario Shepherd (3/15) and Shamar Joseph (3/31), applied the brakes with disciplined bowling, leading to a dramatic South African collapse. The visitors were bowled out for 149 in 19.4 overs, falling 30 runs short.

Brief Scores:

West Indies: 179/6 in 20 overs (Shai Hope 41, Rovman Powell 35, Lizaad Williams 3/36)
