As the excitement grows for the Indian Premier League 2025, it has been confirmed through sources that Visakhapatnam will again be a major venue, hosting two games in the next season. This Andhra Pradesh coastal city, which hosted a few games last season, is still an important IPL hub for 2025.
Delhi Capitals have kept Visakhapatnam as their second home venue. While match dates and opponents remain under wraps, the team will begin its campaign at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. As the IPL fixtures are likely to be announced soon, fans cannot wait for more information.
Is there any other major venue for Indian Premier League 2025?
Visakhapatnam is not the sole non-traditional IPL venue this time. Guwahati and Dharamsala will also host IPL matches. Rajasthan Royals have selected Guwahati as their second home, where they will host two matches—against Kolkata Knight Riders (March 26) and Chennai Super Kings (March 30). Dharamsala will be the second home of Punjab Kings, with three matches scheduled at the picturesque ground. The Punjab team is said to play against Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore in those matches.
Delhi Capitals’ captaincy for the upcoming season remains undecided. Speculation is rife that Axar Patel will be named captain following Rishabh Pant’s move to Lucknow SuperGiants during the IPL auction. Axar, one of Delhi’s four retained players, is a strong contender for the leadership role. However, the team may also consider KL Rahul, who brings significant captaincy experience from his previous stints with Punjab Kings, Lucknow SuperGiants, and the Indian national team.
Cricbuzz has reported that IPL 2025 will formally begin on March 22 with the clash of defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Gardens. The second game, which will see SunRisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals, will be played in Hyderabad on March 23. The final will be played on May 25 at Eden Gardens, ensuring a thrilling conclusion to the tournament.
