Caribbean dynamo Nicholas Pooran achieved a major milestone in his T20 career during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, crossing the 9000 T20 runs. Pooran reached this landmark in a thrilling encounter against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, marking another highlight in a stellar season for the southpaw.
The 29-year-old left-hander needed just a single run to reach the historic feat, which he achieved early in the game. Pooran now becomes only the fourth West Indian cricketer — after Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, and Andre Russell — to enter the 9,000-run club in T20 cricket. Globally, he is the 26th player to accomplish this milestone.
Pooran’s current IPL form has been nothing short of spectacular. Leading the Orange Cap race, he has smashed 368 runs in eight matches at a remarkable average of 52.57 and an astonishing strike rate of 205.58. His tally includes four impressive half-centuries, underlining his consistency and aggressive batting approach.

In IPL history alone, Pooran has now amassed 2,137 runs across 84 games, maintaining an explosive strike rate of 168.40. His performances feature 13 fifties, making him one of the most dangerous middle-order batters in the league.
Saturday’s match was a nail-biter, with the Lucknow Super Giants narrowly edging out Rajasthan Royals by just two runs. The victory elevated Super Giants to fourth place in the IPL 2025 standings with 10 points from eight matches, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
Throughout his illustrious T20 career, Pooran has scored 9,010 runs at an average of 29.44 and a strike rate of 150.14, including three centuries and 55 half-centuries. His latest achievement further cements his reputation as one of the premier T20 players on the global stage.
The Super Giants now shift focus to their next big clash, as they host the Delhi Capitals at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday. Riding high on momentum, they will be eager to extend their winning streak.
