Pakistan once again proved their T20I dominance over West Indies, sealing the 3-match series 2-1 in Lauderhill. A composed batting performance followed by disciplined death bowling ensured a 13-run win in the final T20I. With this victory, Pakistan extended their streak to seven consecutive T20I series wins against the Caribbean side.
Ayub and Farhan Lay the Foundation
Pakistan’s decision to bat first paid dividends as Saim Ayub (66) and Sahibzada Farhan (74) combined for a 138-run opening partnership. While the innings wasn’t blistering from the start, the duo rotated the strike and punished loose deliveries.
Though their strike rate hovered around the conservative mark for most of the innings, a late acceleration, triggered after Farhan’s dismissal, pushed Pakistan to 189/4 — a total that proved just enough.
Late Surge Lifts Pakistan to Winning Total
The final four overs saw 53 runs added, driven by Hasan Nawaz’s short but impactful cameo. Despite not hitting a single four in the last phase, Pakistan cleared the ropes five times, including a vital 20-run final over. That late blitz ultimately separated the two sides in what had been an evenly balanced contest.
West Indies Fight, But Fall Short
Chasing 190, West Indies came out flying, scoring 33 in the first two overs. Athanaze (60) and Sherfane Rutherford (51) played well-crafted innings, keeping the hosts in the hunt.
However, when it mattered most, Haris Rauf and Sufiyan Muqeem turned the screws. Muqeem’s dismissal of Jason Holder—bowled through the gate with a flipper—proved to be a momentum breaker.
Tactical Gamble Falls Flat
In a rare move, Roston Chase was retired out in the 18th over to bring in Holder. It was a desperate attempt to inject firepower, but Pakistan’s bowling precision left no room for a comeback. West Indies eventually ended at 176/6, 13 runs short of the target.
