Bumrah Signals Return to T20I Action by Declaring Asia Cup Availability

Jasprit Bumrah's Asia Cup 2025 availability

New Delhi, August 17, 2025 – India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly confirmed to the selectors his readiness for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates. If chosen, it will mark his first T20I appearance since the triumphant T20 World Cup 2024 campaign.

The BCCI selection committee, led by chief selector Ajit Agarkar, is scheduled to assemble in Mumbai on 19 August to finalise the squad. Bumrah’s availability offers India a significant boost, especially in managing fast-bowling resources ahead of a packed international schedule.

Bumrah has been under the scanner due to workload concerns. Having played only three of the five Tests in the recent England series, he was rested midway, leading to questions about his fitness. His decision to make himself available suggests cautious optimism about his recovery.

He last featured in T20 Internationals during the World Cup final against South Africa in Bridgetown, where he delivered a disciplined spell of 2 for 18, contributing to India’s historic win.

With T20Is in the Asia Cup less demanding in terms of overs, and adequate rest periods between games, Bumrah’s participation now appears logistically feasible. His inclusion could tip the scales for India, offering the perfect mix of control and wicket-taking prowess in the shorter format.
