In an exciting clash at Coimbatore’s 10th match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League on July 13, 2024, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans secured a four-wicket victory over the Siechem Madurai Panthers with 10 balls to spare. Balchander Anirudh’s explosive half-century was the highlight of the match, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Madurai Panthers’ Innings
Batting first, the Siechem Madurai Panthers posted a competitive total of 156/9 in their 20 overs. Despite a shaky start, with Suresh Lokeshwar falling for just 4 runs, skipper Hari Nishaanth steadied the ship with a 17-ball 18 before being dismissed by Ajith Ram.
The Panthers’ innings saw a series of modest contributions, with Jagatheesan Kousik scoring 28 off 31 balls and Sri Abisek adding 21 off 18. The real impetus came from Uthirasamy Sasidev, who smashed a quickfire 41 off just 19 balls, including two boundaries and four sixes. Swapnil Singh also chipped in with an unbeaten 17 off 13 balls.

Tiruppur Tamizhans’ Chase
Chasing 157 for victory, the Tiruppur Tamizhans got off to a rocky start, losing Radhakrishnan (5) and Tushar Raheja (3) early on. However, a blistering knock from Amit Sathvik, who scored 23 off 13 balls, brought some stability to the innings.
The star of the chase was undoubtedly Balchander Anirudh, whose 52 off 28 balls, featuring five fours and three sixes, provided the momentum needed. Despite losing partners at regular intervals, Anirudh kept the scoreboard ticking. His dismissal at 109, caught by Saravanan off Murugan Ashwin, threatened to derail the chase.
Nevertheless, Mohamed Ali played a crucial unbeaten innings of 33 off 27 balls, supported by captain Sai Kishore’s 16 off 14. The pair guided the Tamizhans closer to the target before Kishore fell to Ashwin. It was left to Ali and M Mathivannan to see the team home, with the latter finishing the match with 4 not out.
Murugan Ashwin was exceptional with the ball for the Panthers, taking 4/21 in his four overs. However, the rest of the bowling attack struggled to contain the Tamizhans’ batsmen.

In the 11th match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League held on July 13, 2024, at Coimbatore, the Lyca Kovai Kings secured a commanding nine-wicket victory over the Nellai Royal Kings, chasing down the target of 168 with 9 balls to spare. Balasubramaniam Sachin’s brilliant unbeaten 76 off 48 balls was the standout performance, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Nellai Royal Kings’ Innings
Batting first, Nellai Royal Kings posted a competitive total of 167/7 in their 20 overs. Captain Arun Karthik led from the front with a well-crafted 47 off 38 balls, hitting five boundaries and two sixes. Despite losing Mokit Hariharan early for just 1, NS Harish provided good support with a brisk 29 off 20 balls, including two fours and two sixes.
Guruswamy Ajitesh and Nidhish Rajagopal couldn’t capitalize on their starts, scoring 17 and 3 respectively. However, it was Sonu Yadav’s late onslaught that lifted the total. Yadav smashed 43 off 26 balls, including one four and five sixes, ensuring a strong finish for his team.
For the Lyca Kovai Kings, M Shahrukh Khan and Mohammed Mohammed were the pick of the bowlers, each taking two wickets. Shahrukh Khan was particularly economical, conceding just 30 runs in his four overs.
Lyca Kovai Kings’ Chase
Chasing 168, the Lyca Kovai Kings got off to a shaky start with Sai Sudharsan getting dismissed for 8 in the second over by Emmanuel Cherian. However, Suresh Kumar and Balasubramaniam Sachin then put on a masterclass in batting. The pair added a formidable partnership, with Kumar playing the anchor role and Sachin attacking the bowlers.
Sachin’s scintillating innings of 76 not out off 48 balls included eight fours and three sixes, maintaining a strike rate of 158.33. His aggressive batting ensured that the required run rate was always within reach. Suresh Kumar’s steady 63 not out off 55 balls, featuring three boundaries and two sixes, provided the perfect foil to Sachin’s fireworks.
The partnership was briefly interrupted when Sachin retired hurt with the score at 160, but by then, the game was all but won. Captain Shahrukh Khan came in and sealed the victory with a quick 7 not out off 3 balls, hitting a six to finish the match in style.
