Maaz Sadaqat Stands Tall as Jamaica Collapse Around Him

Jamaica’s innings effectively became the Maaz Sadaqat show.

Kirk McKenzie fell without scoring in the opening over before Keacy Carty departed for nine, leaving Jamaica 30/2.

Sadaqat responded aggressively.

Together with Saim Ayub, he rebuilt the innings through an 80-run third-wicket partnership. The pair carried Jamaica to 97/2 after 10 overs, putting the Kingsmen in a promising position midway through their innings.

Sadaqat reached his half-century from 27 deliveries, having already struck five fours and three sixes.

But what followed at the other end changed the complexion of the final.

Sufyan Moqim Rips Through Jamaica’s Middle Order

With Jamaica 110/2, Sufyan Moqim triggered a dramatic collapse.

Saim Ayub was dismissed for 29 from 22 balls before captain Rovman Powell fell for a duck three deliveries later.

Romaine Morris also went without scoring, Hassan Khan managed only one, and Keemo Paul made three.

Jamaica had suddenly collapsed from:

110/2 to 127/7.

While wickets tumbled around him, Sadaqat kept attacking.

He reached his century from only 49 deliveries, with seven fours and eight sixes at the milestone.

Sufyan was the outstanding Falcons bowler, finishing with exceptional figures of:

4 overs, 14 runs, 4 wickets.

Alzarri Joseph also played an important role, returning 2/27 from four overs.

Sadaqat’s 114 Drags Jamaica to 170

Andre Russell was unable to produce his customary late-innings acceleration, falling for two from seven balls.

Sadaqat therefore had to carry virtually the entire batting effort himself.

He eventually departed from the penultimate delivery of the innings for a magnificent:

114 from 58 balls
8 fours
9 sixes
Strike rate: 196.55

Jamaica closed on 170/9 from 20 overs.

The numbers underline just how extraordinary Sadaqat’s contribution was: his 114 accounted for 67.1% of Jamaica’s entire total, while Saim Ayub’s 29 was the only other score in double figures.

Yet 170 would prove nowhere near enough.

Falcons Launch Stunning Assault on 171

If Jamaica hoped early wickets would put pressure on the Falcons, Rahkeem Cornwall immediately destroyed that plan.

Cornwall smashed 20 from only six deliveries, hitting two fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 333.33.

He was bowled by Saim Ayub from the final delivery of the opening over, but the tone had already been set.

The Falcons weren’t interested in cautiously chasing 171.

They were coming after it.

Lewis Keeps Falcons Flying

Evin Lewis maintained the pressure alongside Amir Jangoo.

Antigua & Barbuda reached 50 in only four overs and finished the six-over powerplay on a remarkable 76/1.

That left them requiring just 95 from the remaining 14 overs.

Lewis struck five fours and two sixes during his 38 from 26 balls before Vitel Lawes bowled him in the eighth over.

At 84/2, Jamaica finally had another opening.

It would be their last wicket of CPL 2026.

Jangoo and Hasan Nawaz Finish the Job

Amir Jangoo and Hasan Nawaz combined to ensure there would be no dramatic turnaround.

Jangoo continued attacking and reached his half-century from 30 balls, including three fours and three sixes at the landmark.

Hasan provided the perfect support before accelerating himself.

The pair added an unbroken 89-run partnership for the third wicket as Jamaica’s bowlers struggled to contain them.

Jangoo finished unbeaten on:

57 from 34 balls
4 fours
3 sixes
Strike rate: 167.64

Hasan Nawaz ended on:

47 not out from 35 balls
3 fours
3 sixes
Strike rate: 134.28

The Falcons reached 173/2 from 16.4 overs, completing the chase with 20 deliveries still unused.

Falcons’ Powerplay Changes the Final

The contrast between the two powerplays tells much of the story.

Jamaica Kingsmen scored 59/2 from their opening six overs.

Antigua & Barbuda Falcons blasted 76/1.

By the end of the Falcons’ powerplay, the required rate had been dramatically reduced and Jamaica were already facing an enormous challenge to drag themselves back into the contest.

The Falcons ultimately chased 171 at a scoring rate of 10.38 runs per over.

Sufyan Moqim Makes the Difference With the Ball

While the batting assault finished the match, Sufyan Moqim’s spell was arguably just as important to shaping the final.

Jamaica were well positioned at 110/2 when Sufyan removed Saim Ayub.

He went on to dismiss Rovman Powell, Hassan Khan and Keemo Paul.

His final figures:

4-0-14-4

His economy rate was just 3.50 in an innings where Jamaica collectively scored at 8.50 per over.

That spell prevented Sadaqat’s century from being supported by the kind of middle-order contribution Jamaica needed to push their total beyond 190.

Maaz Sadaqat’s Heroics End in Defeat

Sadaqat’s 114 will nevertheless stand as one of the defining individual performances of the CPL 2026 Final.

He scored more than two-thirds of Jamaica’s runs and struck 17 boundaries — eight fours and nine sixes.

But cricket’s ultimate team equation proved decisive.

Jamaica received only 44 runs from their other ten batters combined, before extras, while Antigua had substantial contributions throughout their top four.

Cornwall provided the explosive opening.

Lewis maintained the momentum.

Jangoo controlled the chase.

Hasan Nawaz finished it.
